Vivianne Miedema, a key forward for Manchester City, has undergone another successful operation on her left knee, the club announced on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old, who first suffered an ACL tear in December 2022 while playing for Arsenal, missed much of the following year, including the 2023 Women's World Cup. After requiring a minor operation last season, her latest surgery has been confirmed successful.
Although the club has not provided a timetable for her return, Manchester City remains unbeaten in both the English league and Women's Champions League group. Despite her absence, the team recently defeated European champion Barcelona in their group stage, preparing for the return fixture scheduled in Spain on December 18. Miedema also abstained from joining the Netherlands national team for recent friendlies to manage her recovery.
