Bengaluru South Member of Parliament, Tejasvi Surya, has achieved the remarkable accomplishment of completing the IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon in Goa. This highly demanding event required participants to endure a 1.9 km open water swim, a 90 km cycling expedition, and a 21.1 km run, with Surya proving his mettle among nearly 1,200 global athletes.
Surya, reflecting on his four-month training regime, stated that the experience tested the very limits of his mental and physical endurance. Despite a hectic travel schedule and demanding work commitments, the MP found motivation in others who managed to achieve similar feats. His prior relay participation in 2022 only spurred him to complete the entire race this year.
Surya revealed that his drive to finish under the stringent eight-and-a-half-hour threshold was fueled by Prime Minister Modi's Fit India initiative. Completing the 1.9 km swim in just under an hour, the 90 km cycle in over four, and the half marathon in just under three, Surya dedicated his triumph to this national call for fitness, emphasizing a renewed resolve for physical strength and endurance.
