On Tuesday, South African openers Tony de Zorzi and Tristan Stubbs delivered stellar performances, each reaching their maiden Test centuries. This bolstered South Africa to a commanding position over Bangladesh in the second Test.
The Proteas reached 307-2 by the early cessation of play due to bad light, with de Zorzi still at the crease on 141. Meanwhile, Stubbs managed to score 106 off 198 balls, including six fours and three sixes, before being dismissed by Taijul Islam.
The stand-in captain Aiden Markram's decision to bat first paid off as South Africa steadily advanced, despite Taijul making some breakthroughs. However, Bangladesh's bowlers struggled against de Zorzi's relentless attack, allowing South Africa to surpass the 300-run mark.
