England has confirmed the inclusion of wicketkeeper-batter Jordan Cox and spinner Rehan Ahmed in their white-ball squad for the forthcoming West Indies tour. Both players are presently part of the English Test team facing Pakistan in the third Test at Rawalpindi. Cox will return home to join the touring side, which departs for Antigua on Monday, October 28. Ahmed, who is in England's playing XI for the Test, will arrive in the Caribbean later.
Cox made his international debut in the recent T20I series against Australia and is set for his first ODI cap during the Caribbean tour. His inclusion is crucial as Jos Buttler, the regular captain, will miss the 50-over series due to a calf injury setback. Additionally, Cox is anticipated to be England's wicketkeeper during the New Zealand series owing to Jamie Smith's likely absence on paternity leave. This tour is part of the ongoing World Test Championship.
Rehan Ahmed joins the squad as one of three wrist-spinners, along with Adil Rashid and uncapped Jafer Chohan from Yorkshire. Liam Livingstone has been named captain for the ODI series, with Buttler expected to return for the T20I matches.
The tour kicks off with the first ODI of a three-match series at Antigua on October 31, followed by a five-match T20I series starting November 10. The England ODI squad includes captain Liam Livingstone, Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, and others, forming a strong lineup for the tour. (ANI)
