New Zealand captain Tom Latham lauded his team's performance after a landmark victory over India in the first Test at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday. The win, secured by a compelling century from Rachin Ravindra and potent bowling from pacers Matt Henry and William O'Rourke, ends a 36-year losing streak against India.

Latham emphasized the importance of their strategy during the post-match conference, acknowledging the favorable conditions. After India took a brief lead in the third innings, Latham praised his bowlers for maintaining pressure with the new ball, which turned the tide in New Zealand's favor. He highlighted the pivotal partnership between Rachin and Tim that steadied the innings.

In pursuit of a modest target of 107, New Zealand overhauled the score with contributions from Will Young and Rachin, securing the win with ease. India, despite a strong initial innings performance and partnerships led by Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant, faltered in their second innings, succumbing to the relentless Kiwi bowling attack.
