African Boxing Confederation President Supports IBA Against IOC
African Boxing Confederation President Eyassu Wossen expressed strong support for the International Boxing Association against the International Olympic Committee's decision. The IOC had removed IBA's recognition, urging the formation of a new boxing body. Wossen, opposing this, committed to uniting African federations to support IBA.
In a bold show of defiance, African Boxing Confederation President, Eyassu Wossen, has voiced his support for the Russian-led International Boxing Association (IBA) amid ongoing tensions with the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The IOC stripped IBA of recognition last year due to governance and financial issues, threatening to exclude boxing from the 2028 Los Angeles Games unless a new world body is formed.
Wossen, committed to rallying African National Federations behind the IBA, hopes to overcome these challenges, emphasizing the importance of solidarity in securing boxing's future on the global stage.
