Indian sports fans had reason to celebrate as the country's men's table tennis team secured a bronze medal at the Asian Table Tennis Championships, despite a semifinal loss to Chinese Taipei. Held in Astana, Kazakhstan, the event was grueling for the players as they faced some of the world's best competitors.
Legendary player Achanta Sharath Kamal, ranked 42nd globally, struggled against the formidable world No. 7 Lin Yun-Ju. The challenging match saw Kamal defeated in straight sets. Following this, Manav Thakkar fought valiantly but was unable to overcome world No. 22 Kao Cheng-Jui, narrowly losing in a set of tight games.
Harmeet Desai also encountered a tough opponent in Huang Yan-Cheng, sealing India's fate with a third loss. Despite these setbacks, the Table Tennis Federation of India highlighted the teams' accomplishments, emphasizing India's emergence on the international stage as both the men's and women's teams showcased determination and skill.
