In a scathing review, former Pakistan player Basit Ali took aim at the Pakistani cricket team's strategies following India's commanding performance in the second T20I of a three-match series against Bangladesh. Held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the game saw India's Nitish Kumar Reddy excel with both bat and ball, topping the scoreboard with an impressive half-century while also taking two wickets. His all-round performance earned him the Player of the Match title as India completed an 86-run triumph over Bangladesh.
Expressing his dissatisfaction on his YouTube channel, Basit Ali lamented the lack of strategic thinking within the Pakistani team. He urged them to take lessons from India's approach, which saw them rest key players like Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal to favor a long-term view. Ali humorously suggested that the towering sixes from Nitish should be termed 'Athhe' instead. He also praised Rinku Singh's consistency and acknowledged the successful mindset Gautam Gambhir brings to India's team management.
During the match, Bangladesh's decision to bowl first seemed to work early on, reducing India to 41/3. However, a crucial 108-run partnership between Nitish (74 from 34 balls) and Rinku Singh (53 from 29 balls) propelled India to a formidable 221/9 in 20 overs. Hardik Pandya added a quick-fire 32. Taskin Ahmed (2/16) and Rishad Hossain (3/55) were notable performers for Bangladesh. In response, Bangladesh struggled to match India's total, folding for 135 as Mahmadullah's 41 provided only brief resistance. Varun Chakravarthy and Nitish Kumar Reddy were standout bowlers for India, taking two wickets each, helping secure a 2-0 series lead for India.
