Captain Menica Thakur's decisive penalty sealed a thrilling shootout victory for Golden Eagles Bharat Club over Uzbekistan's Uzbechka HC, securing a tense third-place playoff finish at the 7th Asian Women's Club League Handball Championship in Almaty. This win marks the second consecutive year an Indian club has achieved a podium finish in this prestigious tournament.

Guided by leaders Priyanka and Menica, Golden Eagles Bharat overcame an early deficit, leveling the score at 11-11 by halftime. Priyanka's last-second equalizer brought the match to penalties, where Menica's decisive shot clinched a 3-2 shootout win, following a 22-22 draw in regular time. Menica expressed pride in the victory, underscoring the growth and potential of Indian handball.

While Golden Eagles Bharat claimed glory in Almaty, 1700 kilometers away in Aligarh, new handball prospects trained diligently at the Golden Eagles Centre of Excellence - Handball.
