Renowned American discus thrower Valarie Allman, a gold medalist at both the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics, has been appointed the International Event Ambassador for the Delhi Half Marathon, set for October 20, 2024. Allman's stellar throw of 69.50 meters in Paris established a new American record and reinforced her status as a globally acclaimed athlete. Her Olympic career was launched at the Tokyo Games, where she captured gold with an impressive 68.98-meter throw.

Allman's athletic journey began unexpectedly; originally passionate about dance, she transitioned to track and field during high school, influenced by her older brother. She swiftly became a standout performer, claiming a silver medal at the 2017 Summer Universiade and marking her presence on the global stage. Although she did not compete in the 2017 World Championships, her dedication resulted in a spot on the U.S. Olympic team for Tokyo 2020. There, she became the first American woman discus thrower to win Olympic gold since 2008. Allman's personal best throw of 71.46 meters, recorded at the Triton Invitational in April 2022, is the 15th longest in history and the farthest in nearly 30 years.

Upon being named as the International Event Ambassador for the Delhi Half Marathon, Allman expressed delight at her inaugural visit to India. She lauded the event for fostering community, stating, "The start line is not just a race; it's a celebration of camaraderie, determination, and resilience, pushing our limits to achieve new personal milestones." Enthusiastic about the cultural vibrancy of India, she embraced the event's hashtag, #AaRangDeDilli, as a fitting portrayal of India's spirit.

At the Paris Olympics, Allman maintained her dominance, clinching gold with a 69.50-meter throw. Her superiority in the final was evident, as all her qualifying throws surpassed those of her closest competitor, China's Bin Feng, by nearly two meters.
