Valerie Allman: Champion Discus Thrower Joins Delhi Half Marathon

Olympic discus champion Valerie Allman is announced as the international ambassador for the upcoming Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon. Allman, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, set a new American record at the Paris Games with a 69.50m throw. The marathon will feature top athletes including Uganda's Joshua Cheptegai.

Two-time Olympic champion discus thrower Valerie Allman has been named the international event ambassador for the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon, set to take place on October 20. Allman made headlines this year by setting a new American record with a 69.50-meter throw at the Paris Games.

Her exceptional performance brought the USA back to the top in discus throw, a title not held since 2008. With a personal best of 71.46 meters, Allman has also secured medals at the World Championships, earning silver in 2023 and bronze in 2022.

Apart from Allman, the marathon will feature top international athletes such as Uganda's Joshua Cheptegai and former world record holder Peres Jepchirchir from Kenya. Cheptegai is renowned for his world records in the 5000m and 10,000m events, as well as his best time in the 15km distance.
