Mohammed Shami, India's premier fast bowler, is working his way back to the cricket scene after being sidelined with an ankle injury. Following a surgery earlier this year, Shami expressed his intent to test his fitness via domestic cricket before returning internationally.
As Shami eyes a comeback, Bengal's Ranji team sees the return of seasoned players Wriddhiman Saha and Sudip Chatterjee. Saha, who has had a rocky relationship with the Cricket Association of Bengal, previously ventured to Tripura as a mentor in 2022.
Under captain Anustup Majumdar, the Bengal squad has set off for Lucknow to take on Uttar Pradesh on October 11. Their campaign will continue with a home match against Bihar, marking an important start to their season.
