The much-anticipated Hockey India League (HIL) is making its comeback after a seven-year absence, introducing both men's and women's competitions starting December 28.
The men's league will comprise eight teams, whereas the women's division will feature six teams, marking a historic first. Competitions will take place across two venues: Rourkela for men and Ranchi for women, extending until February 1. The league has received a 10-year sanction from the International Hockey Federation (FIH).
The league aims to enhance women's hockey prominence, with player auctions slated from October 13 to 15 in three categories, offering significant development for female athletes and making strides toward a more inclusive Indian hockey landscape.
