The much-anticipated revival of the Hockey India League (HIL) has been announced, marking its return after a significant seven-year gap. The forthcoming HIL 2024-25 season is set to take place from late December 2024 to early February 2025, as per the International Hockey Federation's official schedule. This season is unique for its inclusion of both men's and women's teams.

For the first time, the league will feature women's teams, with equal emphasis placed on both genders—an historic stride towards inclusive representation in the sport. Hockey India's decision reflects its dedication to uplifting the women's segment within the sport, widening the player talent pool, and drawing international attention. The league's auction is slated for October 13-15 in New Delhi.

Hockey India has consistently advocated for gender parity, offering equal facilities, exposure, and financial rewards to both teams. Such measures have inspired many female athletes and significantly improved the morale of the women's team. FIH President Dilip Kumar Tirkey shared his excitement about the league's return, highlighting its role in shaping the future of Indian hockey.
