The South African cricket team is paying a heartfelt tribute to their closest friends and family during the ICC Women's World Cup by wearing specially designed jerseys. Each player's shirt will feature up to five names of important individuals in their lives, serving as a reminder of their loved ones' support from back home.
Adopting the slogan 'Always Rising - For Me, For Her, For Them, For All, For South Africa, For The Proteas,' the team aims to strengthen their bond with fans as they strive to surpass their runner-up finish to Australia at last year's home soil event. The names are elegantly embroidered inside the collar and bottom hems of each player's shirt.
Wicketkeeper Sinalo Jafta commended the initiative as she honors her mom and counselor. "It's a special touch," she stated, affirming her commitment to always giving her best. Team captain Laura Wolvaardt also emphasized the emotional strength gained from carrying a piece of home, asserting that her loved ones' spirit accompanies her on the field. South Africa, grouped with England, West Indies, Bangladesh, and Scotland, kicks off their campaign against the West Indies in Dubai on Friday.
