France has once again included Michael Olise in their squad for the Nations League fixtures against Israel and Belgium later this month, filling the gap left by Kylian Mbappe, who is sidelined with an injury. The 22-year-old midfielder, who impressed with his performances against Italy and Belgium recently, has been entrusted with the responsibility in the absence of veteran Antoine Griezmann, who retired from international football.
Kylian Mbappe recently sustained a muscle injury while playing for Real Madrid and managed only a brief appearance in a Champions League loss to Lille, resulting in his exclusion from the national team. 'Kylian's injury isn't serious, but caution is needed, so he isn't on the list,' coach Didier Deschamps explained.
Additionally, Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku returns to the squad, marking his first call-up after over a year. France aims to overtake Italy in Group A2, where they currently trail by three points. They are scheduled to play Israel in Budapest on October 10 and Belgium in Brussels shortly after.
