Former Pakistani cricketer Mudassar Nazar has openly criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for its handling of leadership transitions between senior players Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi. According to Nazar, the board's mismanagement has contributed to escalating tensions between the two cricketers.
Babar Azam stepped down as Pakistan's captain for the second time after a disappointing performance at the 2023 ODI World Cup. Shaheen Shah Afridi was appointed as his successor, only to be removed shortly after, with the PCB reinstating Babar as the white-ball captain in March.
The former cricketer emphasized the need for stability, blaming frequent leadership changes and neglect within the PCB for Pakistan cricket's current decline. Nazar remains hopeful for a revival, citing the country's abundant talent and the potential for a new wave of players to make their mark.
