The International Cricket Council (ICC) has handed down a one-year ban, with six months suspended, to Sri Lanka's Praveen Jayawickrama. This decision follows his admission of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, the governing body announced on Wednesday.
The charges against Jayawickrama pertain to Article 2.4.7 of the Code, which deals with obstructing or delaying investigations by the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU). He was found guilty of actions such as concealing, tampering with, or destroying documentation or information that could be critical to the investigation.
Consequently, Jayawickrama faces a one-year period of ineligibility, with the latter six months suspended pending good behavior. The full decision, with sensitive information redacted, is available on the ICC's official website.
