In a remarkable feat, India's ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin equaled Sri Lanka's cricket legend Muttiah Muralitharan's record for the most Player of the Series awards in Test cricket. Ashwin's exceptional showing in the two-match series against Bangladesh earned him his 11th such accolade.
The 38-year-old spinner, renowned for his guile and precision, was instrumental in India's dominance, making opposition batters struggle with his masterful command over the ball. His remarkable performances included a century in the first Test and a crucial six-wicket haul, thwarting Bangladesh's ambitious 515-run chase, leading India to a 280-run victory.
In the rain-affected second Test at Kanpur, Ashwin's pivotal spells continued to confound Bangladeshi batsmen, resulting in another victory for India. His efforts crowned him the joint-leading wicket-taker alongside Jasprit Bumrah, amassing 11 scalps and scoring 114 runs in the series.
As India celebrated its 18th consecutive Test victory at home, the focus now shifts to the forthcoming three-match Test series against New Zealand. With Ashwin at the helm, the team hopes to sustain their winning momentum heading into the anticipated Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia later this year.
