The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is embroiled in a contentious feud between its top officials. Treasurer Sahdev Yadav has refuted President PT Usha's allegations that the Executive Committee members are not supporting a proposal to felicitate Paris Olympics medal-winners, labeling her claims as 'blatant lies.'
On Monday, Usha expressed 'deep concern' over the Executive Committee's failure to honor Olympic medallists and accused the Finance Committee of blocking essential funds meant for Indian athletes' preparation for the Paris Games. According to Usha, the EC's actions are deeply troubling and have led to delays in organizing a formal felicitation ceremony.
In response, Yadav stated that no discussions or official proposals have been made regarding a celebration for the Paris Olympics 2024 medalists. He accused Usha of spreading falsehoods and shirking her responsibilities as per the IOA constitution. The ongoing internal conflict has been exacerbated by issues surrounding the appointment of Raghuram Iyer as CEO. Despite attempts to resolve the deadlock, no consensus has been reached, leading to further disputes among IOA officials.
