Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel, and Yash Dayal have been released from the Indian Test squad to participate in the Irani Cup in Lucknow, starting Tuesday at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. The players will bolster the squads of the Rest of India and Mumbai, the reigning Ranji Trophy champions.
The BCCI confirmed the trio's release in a post on 'X,' specifying their participation, conditional on not being involved in the second Test between India and Bangladesh. Ajinkya Rahane will lead Mumbai, while Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named captain of the Rest of India side.
Sarfaraz Khan's inclusion will strengthen a Mumbai squad missing his younger brother, Musheer Khan, who is recovering from injuries sustained in a recent road accident. Jurel and Dayal will join the Rest of India squad, which features prominent players such as Abhimanyu Easwaran and Ishan Kishan.
