Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar have announced the launch of the International Masters League (IML), an annual T20 cricket tournament featuring legendary players from India, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, England, and Sri Lanka. The league is set to take place later this year across three venues: Mumbai, Lucknow, and Raipur.
The idea for the IML originated from Tendulkar and Gavaskar, with the latter serving as the league's commissioner. Both legends will work alongside PMG Sports and SPORTFIVE, a sports marketing company, to establish a new entity in India dedicated to organizing the league.
Additionally, the league has opened invitations for parties interested in owning one of the franchise teams. Tendulkar emphasized that T20 cricket's rapid growth has garnered new fans and that the IML will rekindle classic cricket battles in a modern format. Gavaskar echoed this sentiment, highlighting the unique opportunity for fans to see their heroes in action once more.
