CSA Approves South Africa's Tour to Bangladesh Amid Security Concerns

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has approved the senior men's team's tour to Bangladesh for a two-match Test series, scheduled for late October. This approval comes after a thorough security assessment in the country, which has been experiencing turmoil since the fall of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government. The tour's confirmation follows an 'in-loco inspection' by CSA officials.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has given the green light for the senior men's cricket team's tour to Bangladesh for a two-match Test series, following an extensive security assessment. The assessment was prompted by the turmoil in Bangladesh, which saw Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina flee the country on August 5, after weeks of unrest caused the ICC to shift the women's T20 World Cup to the UAE.

The South African delegation, comprising the board's operations manager, team security manager, safety and security consultant, and a representative of the South African Cricketers' Association, conducted an 'in-loco inspection' in Bangladesh last week before submitting their recommendations to the CSA board.

Despite concerns due to widespread anti-government protests in July and August, CSA decided to proceed with the tour after being assured that the situation had 'settled.' The team is set to arrive in Dhaka on October 16, with the Test matches scheduled for October 21-25 in Dhaka and October 29 to November 2 in Chattogram. The last Test series between South Africa and Bangladesh was held in March-April 2022 in South Africa.
