In a historic achievement, India's opening pair, Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Rohit Sharma, propelled the team to the fastest team 100 in Test cricket history. Playing against Bangladesh in the second Test at Kanpur, the duo launched an aggressive assault from the first ball.
Rohit and Jaiswal began the innings with a series of boundaries, notably with Jaiswal hitting Hasan Mahmud for three consecutive fours in the opening over. The onslaught continued as Rohit hit two sixes in the subsequent over bowled by Khaled Ahmed, followed by additional boundaries from Jaiswal, pushing India's score to 50 in just three overs.
This record-breaking partnership ended in 3.5 overs with Miraz dismissing Rohit, but not before the pair had scored at an unprecedented rate of 14.34 runs per over. Despite the interruption in play due to weather, their performance helped India reach a hundred runs in 10.1 overs, a new benchmark in Test cricket.
