Indian Batters Blitz to Record-Breaking Fastest Team Hundred in Test Cricket
Indian batters set a record for the fastest team hundred in men's Test cricket, surpassing England's previous record, with notable contributions from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma. Their aggressive approach led to a rapid breach of the 50-run mark against Bangladesh at Green Park, despite challenging weather conditions.
Indian batters launched an astonishing performance to shatter their own record of the fastest team hundred in men's Test cricket while also setting a new benchmark for the quickest fifty on the fourth day of the rain-affected second match against Bangladesh at Green Park.
Yashasvi Jaiswal led the charge with 10 fours and a six, making the fourth fastest fifty for any Indian batter. This came after Rohit Sharma's early fireworks, who scored 23 off 11 balls with three sixes and one four. The 50-run mark was breached in a mere three overs.
India broke England's record of the fastest team fifty, previously set at 4.2 overs against the West Indies at Trent Bridge in July. As Jaiswal continued his aggressive play, Shubman Gill joined the assault, propelling India to cross the triple-figure mark in just 11 overs, improving their own record. This came in response to Bangladesh's 233 all out first innings, with only 35 overs played in the first three days due to persistent rains.
