Bayern Munich star Harry Kane's left ankle injury is not as serious as initially feared, the Bundesliga club has confirmed.
Examinations by the club's medical unit on Sunday indicated a positive development, according to a statement by the Bavarian powerhouse. The club noted, 'Kane will continue to receive appropriate treatment.' However, Bayern did not specify whether Kane will be fit for their visit to Aston Villa in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old forward limped off the field late in Bayern's 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Saturday. He sustained the injury following a knock to the ankle in a tussle for the ball with Leverkusen's Amine Adli. Kane was unable to make a shot at goal against Leverkusen but has been pivotal in Bayern's attack this season, scoring five goals and assisting six more in the first four league games. Additionally, he netted four goals in the 9-2 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in Bayern's opening Champions League game and scored in their opening German Cup match.
