Pramac Racing's Jorge Martin has put his 2023 Indonesia Grand Prix woes behind him with a confident victory in Mandalika on Sunday. Martin now leads Ducati's Francesco Bagnaia by 21 points, a marked improvement from last year when he lost his lead in the standings after a crash.
The Spaniard, who was runner-up to Bagnaia last season, dominated Sunday's race from start to finish, despite crashing during Saturday's sprint. 'Today was really difficult because of yesterday's crash and last season's incident,' Martin told reporters, adding that overcoming those challenges was mentally taxing.
'When I reached lap 13, memories of last season started to haunt me, but I persevered and everything turned out fine,' Martin said. 'I'm glad I managed to learn from my mistakes.' The 26-year-old emphasized the importance of staying grounded as he heads into the final five races of the MotoGP season, with the Japanese Grand Prix up next at Motegi.
