The 18-year-old cyclist experienced a severe fall on Thursday, resulting in critical head injuries. Furrer was immediately airlifted to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
Despite the tragic incident, the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships will proceed as planned, respecting the wishes of Furrer's family. This decision underscores a commitment to honoring her passion for the sport.
