By Parv Anand - Former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel believes there's no harm in experimenting with Yash Dayal in place of Jasprit Bumrah or Mohammed Siraj for the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur, starting Friday.

Before the Test series against Bangladesh commenced in Chennai, captain Rohit Sharma emphasized managing the workload of their bowlers throughout the demanding Test schedule extending until January. India showcased their dominance by securing a commanding 280-run victory in the first Test. At the pre-match press conference on Thursday, assistant coach Abhishek Nayar refrained from revealing specifics about the playing XI.

Patel suggests that Dayal, who demonstrates tremendous potential, could replace either Siraj or Bumrah, offering a rare opportunity to see a left-arm pacer in action for India. 'This is a great chance to watch a left-armer in action. It's been a while since India had a left-arm seamer. Yash Dayal has immense potential, so I don't see any harm in trying,' Parthiv told ANI.

Another critical area will be India's middle-order composition under Rohit Sharma. While Sarfaraz Ahmed and Dhruv Jurel have shown promise during India's 4-1 series win over England, the return of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul complicates their inclusion in the playing XI.

'I don't think Sarfaraz and Dhruv will immediately reenter the side. With Rishabh back, both talented players will have to wait for their turn despite being poised for Test cricket,' Parthiv added. Jurel made his debut against England in Rajkot, scoring a promising 46, followed by a match-saving 90 in the fourth Test that boosted India's first-inning total to 307. Sarfaraz's consistency has been crucial, averaging 50.00 across three matches.

Jurel and Dayal are included in the Rest of India's squad for the upcoming Irani Cup, while Sarfaraz joins Mumbai's squad. If not selected for the Bangladesh Tests, they are set to appear in the Irani Cup. (ANI)
