Former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel has proposed giving Yash Dayal a chance in place of either Jasprit Bumrah or Mohammed Siraj for the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur, starting on Friday.

Before the Test series against Bangladesh commenced in Chennai, India skipper Rohit Sharma emphasized the importance of managing the pacers' workload throughout the jam-packed Test schedule, which extends until January next year. India dominated in the opening Test, securing a 280-run victory, while assistant coach Abhishek Nayar remained tight-lipped about the playing XI in a pre-match press conference on Thursday.

Patel believes that Dayal, who has 'tremendous potential,' could replace either Siraj or Bumrah, providing an opportunity to see a left-arm pacer in action for India. 'This will be a great chance to see a left-armer. It has been a while since India had a left-arm seamer, so I feel if he gets the chance, it will be good. Yash Dayal has tremendous potential. I don't think there is harm in trying,' Patel shared with ANI.

Another key focus will be the middle-order setup of the Rohit-led side. Sarfaraz Ahmed and Dhruv Jurel have made strong cases for inclusion after their performances during India's 4-1 series win over England earlier this year. Despite this, Parthiv anticipates that the duo will likely have to wait for their opportunities due to the return of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul to the Test setup. 'I don't think Sarfaraz and Dhruv will make a comeback to the side. Rishabh has just made a comeback. Both of them are very talented and ready for Test cricket. But they will have to wait for their chances,' Parthiv noted.

Jurel earned his maiden Test cap in the 3rd Test against England in Rajkot, scoring a promising 46-run knock. He followed it with a match-saving 90 (149) in the first inning of the fourth Test, helping India to a total of 307. Sarfaraz bolstered India's middle order by scoring 200 runs across three matches, averaging 50.00.

Jurel and Dayal are set to join the Rest of India's squad for the upcoming Irani Cup, while Sarfaraz will be part of Mumbai's squad. If they don't make the playing XI against Bangladesh, they will still have the opportunity to showcase their talent in the Irani Cup.
