As India gears up for the second Test against Bangladesh, assistant coach Abhishek Nayar emphasized that the selection of spinner Kuldeep Yadav and the overall playing XI will depend on the condition of the pitch at Kanpur's Green Park Stadium. The second match of the two-Test series is set to begin on Friday.
During a pre-match press conference, Nayar stated the team remains uncertain about the pitch conditions in Kanpur. "We do not know what surface we are going to play on yet. Both the pitches were really good; Kanpur is always known for good pitches. A lot will depend on the morning conditions and forecast, as these factors significantly influence Test cricket," explained Nayar.
Kuldeep, who has bagged 53 wickets in 12 Tests since his debut in 2017, last played against England in March this year. Despite performing well in that series, he was left out of the first Test in Chennai, where India opted for a pace-heavy attack. India won that match by 280 runs, with standout performances from Ravichandran Ashwin, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah.
The Indian team will retain the squad for the second Test, starting on September 27. The lineup includes: Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), R Ashwin, R Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah, Yash Dayal. (ANI)
