Shakib Al Hasan's Potential Final Test Match Set Amid Controversy
Shakib Al Hasan, a star all-rounder from Bangladesh, announced that his next Test against India might be his last unless granted a farewell match in Mirpur by the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Shakib, a veteran of 69 Tests, is embroiled in a legal case during political unrest in Bangladesh.
Shakib Al Hasan, the star all-rounder from Bangladesh, has revealed that his upcoming second Test match against India could be his last unless the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) grants him a farewell match at home in Mirpur.
The 37-year-old veteran, who has played 69 Tests, scoring 4,453 runs and taking 242 wickets, expressed his desire for a fitting farewell. He mentioned that BCB is attempting to organize a final home match for him, but if that falls through, the Test against India in Kanpur will mark his retirement from Test cricket.
Shakib's announcement comes amid significant turmoil, as he has been named an accused in a murder case during the political unrest that led to the ouster of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Shakib has also served as a member of Parliament for the Awami League, Sheikh Hasina's party.
