Dilip Vengsarkar, a former captain of the Indian cricket team and current BCCI Apex Council member, has expressed enthusiasm for the forthcoming inauguration of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The state-of-the-art facility is set to open its doors later this week.
Speaking to PTI after a brief virtual Apex Council meeting, Vengsarkar highlighted the NCA's advanced infrastructure. Last week, he visited the impressive complex, which features three grounds, 45 practice pitches, eight indoor nets, a 16,000-square-foot gym, and an Olympic-size swimming pool. Officials and state unit representatives are invited to the Friday opening, just ahead of the BCCI's Annual General Meeting.
Also on the Apex Council's agenda was an update on six indoor cricket academies being built in Northeastern states, with the work progressing well. These facilities, slated to serve players from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim, are located in key cities like Shillong, Itanagar, and Kohima.
