Hubert Hurkacz Pledges Aces for Aid to Poland Flood Victims
World number eight Hubert Hurkacz commits to donating 100 euros for every ace he serves until the end of the season to aid flood victims in Poland. This initiative comes as Hurkacz joins an exclusive club of players with over 1000 aces in an ATP Tour season.
World number eight Hubert Hurkacz has announced a charitable initiative to support flood victims in Poland. The tennis star has pledged to donate 100 euros for every ace he serves until the season's end.
Hurkacz's decision comes in the wake of devastating floods that have claimed 23 lives across central Europe, particularly affecting areas along the Czech-Polish border. The Polish player expressed that for him, sport is not just about competition but also about driving impact through initiatives like #acesforaid.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk revealed that Poland would allocate up to 23 billion zlotys ($6.02 billion) to tackle the aftermath of the floods, with some funding coming from the European Union. Hurkacz is currently seeded second in the Tokyo Open and will play against American Marcos Giron in the upcoming round of 32.
