The inaugural day of the 14th Hockey India Sub Junior Men National Championship at Chandigarh's Astroturf Hockey Stadium showcased robust victories from multiple teams. Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Hockey triumphed over Goans Hockey with a decisive 9-0 win in a Pool G clash. Standout player Mithlesh Singh netted three goals, while Jitin and Sagar each secured a brace. Further contributions came from Pawan Yadav and Captain Ravindra Pratap Yadav.
Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu emerged victorious against Hockey Gujarat with a scoreline of 10-4. Top scorers for Tamil Nadu included Sugumar M, Renjit, and Captain Sundarajith M, with additional goals from Gowtham and S Lakshmanan Sri. Despite the loss, Hockey Gujarat's Tushal Sosa and Parmar Rajveer Bhupatbhai managed to score twice each.
In another key matchup, Hockey Punjab defeated Hockey Karnataka 8-2 in their Pool E fixture. Braces from Mandeep Singh, Charanjeet Singh, Gurwinder Singh, and Amandeep drove their comprehensive team performance. Meanwhile, Manipur Hockey overpowered Hockey Bihar 6-0 in their Pool E encounter, showcasing notable efforts from Manimatum Malbam and other team members. Additionally, Hockey Arunachal secured a 9-0 victory over Hockey Jammu & Kashmir, with multiple players scoring, including Kumar Shashank and Captain Yuvraj Das.
