Ravichandran Ashwin's six for 88 wreaked havoc on Bangladesh as India secured a commanding 280-run victory in the opening test on Sunday, taking a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
Chasing a massive target of 515, Bangladesh were all out for 234, with only skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto (82) providing any notable resistance. Ashwin emerged as the standout performer among Indian bowlers, with crucial support from his spin partner Ravindra Jadeja (3-58).
Indian captain Rohit Sharma praised his bowlers for capitalizing on the favorable red-soil pitch conditions, which benefited both seamers and spinners. Sharma highlighted the team's versatile bowling arsenal. Following solid resistance from Shanto and Shakib Al Hasan early in the day, Ashwin broke their partnership in his first over, setting the tone for India's dominance.
