The swashbuckling Rishabh Pant on Sunday declared that Test cricket is where "I belong the most" after marking his return to his favourite format with a sensational hundred against Bangladesh in Chennai.

Pant hit his sixth Test century, his first since recovering from a horrific car accident in December 2022, during the third day of the opening Test. Thanks to centuries from Pant and Shubman Gill, India set Bangladesh an improbable target of 515 runs. The visitors were bowled out for 234 in their second innings.

"This 100 was special because I love playing in Chennai," Pant said after India's 280-run win. Playing with his characteristic flair, Pant scored 109 off 128 balls, including 13 fours and four sixes. His partnership with Gill lifted India from a precarious 67/3 to 287/4 declared.

After the batting exploits, senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took six wickets, leading India to a dominant victory with more than five sessions to spare.
