Cricket West Indies (CWI) has declared the re-election of Azim Bassarath as vice president of the Board of Directors. The decision came during a Special Meeting of Members convened on Friday, in line with the CWI Articles of Association, for the exclusive purpose of electing a new vice president.

Bassarath was the only nominee, put forth by the Jamaica Cricket Association and the Leeward Islands Cricket Board. The nominations were distributed as per usual protocol, ensuring all territorial boards, which constitute the shareholders, were properly informed. Expressing his gratitude, Bassarath stated, "I'm excited to return to my duties for the good of West Indies cricket, working alongside my dedicated colleagues at Cricket West Indies. Since March 2023, when Dr. Shallow and I took over, we've made significant progress in the T20 format, and we aim to extend these achievements to the other two international formats. I'm committed to serving with integrity and respect while upholding the best governance practices. This confidence from the shareholders is crucial as we move forward in our mission to deliver results that fans and stakeholders are eager to see under Kishore Shallow's leadership."

All Territorial Boards, except the Guyana Cricket Board, attended the special meeting. CWI reiterated its dedication to democratic principles and transparency, as outlined in its Articles of Association. CWI president Kishore Shallow thanked members for their participation and emphasized the need for unity among West Indies Cricket stakeholders. The next quarterly board meeting is slated for September 28 in Trinidad and Tobago.
