Indian spin legend R Ashwin made history by surpassing Anil Kumble to become the leading wicket-taker for India in the fourth innings of a Test match. Ashwin achieved this milestone during the first Test against Bangladesh at Chennai, where he played a pivotal role in defending a total of 515 runs.
Having gone wicketless in the first innings, Ashwin came back strongly in the final innings, taking three wickets for 63 runs over 15 overs with an economy rate of 4.20. This performance took his fourth-innings wicket tally to 96 in just 35 innings, with an average of 19.4 and a strike rate of over 45. His best figures are 7/59.
