Star Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra narrowly missed the Diamond League crown, finishing second for the second consecutive year with a throw of 87.86m in the season finale on Saturday.

The 26-year-old, who had previously won the DL trophy in 2022 but finished second last year, achieved his best throw in his third attempt. The effort fell just 1cm short of Grenada's Anderson Peters' winning throw of 87.87m.

Peters, a two-time world champion, made his best throw in his opening attempt. Julian Weber of Germany secured third place with an 85.97m throw. Despite this, Chopra ended his season positively, adding a silver to his Olympic medal tally.
