Armand Duplantis has capped off an impressive season by setting a meet record at the Diamond League Final, although it was short of his world record. Despite tired legs, Duplantis managed to clear 6.11 meters, a centimeter more than his previous meet record, to secure his place in history.

Earlier this year, Duplantis broke the pole vault world record three times, including while winning his second Olympic gold medal in Paris. His most recent record was set at a league meet in Poland, where he cleared 6.26 meters.

'My legs felt terrible tonight and I'm just really tired,' Duplantis admitted. 'But with 6.11 I got a good result. Now it's time to celebrate my beautiful season.'

In other events, Jakob Ingebrigtsen narrowly won the men's 1,500 meters, and Julien Alfred emerged victorious in the women's 100 meters. Australian discus thrower Matthew Denny also set a new meet record, breaking a 40-year-old precedent.
