Legendary footballer Bhaichung Bhutia has strongly criticized the current leadership of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), blaming them for the downward trajectory of the national team's performance.

Bhutia cited the lack of a strategic roadmap as a significant reason for India's humiliating 0-3 defeat against Syria and a 0-0 draw with Mauritius in the recent Intercontinental Cup. The former India captain has demanded a complete overhaul of the AIFF administration.

With India failing to progress to the third round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and the ensuing sacking of head coach Igor Stimac, Bhutia emphasized the necessity for a new AIFF constitution, transparent elections, and a competent governing body focused on results, not just social activities. He criticized the federation's distractions and urged a dedicated focus on enhancing the national and junior teams' performances.
