Eddie Howe Applauds Tonali's Return to Italy Post Betting Ban
Newcastle United's Eddie Howe is pleased with Sandro Tonali's return to Italy's national football team after a 10-month betting ban. Tonali performed well in the Nations League matches against Israel and France. Howe also gave updates on other players' conditions, including an injured Callum Wilson.
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has expressed his delight at seeing midfielder Sandro Tonali back on the field for Italy, following a 10-month suspension for violating betting regulations. Tonali featured in Italy's Nations League matches against Israel and France, marking his return to the national team since his ban by the Italian Football Federation last October.
Howe, addressing the media on Friday, noted, 'I was pleased to see him play. He has performed well, those games would have done him the world of good. It's the first few steps for him; we are delighted he is available for us. Sandro has that flair and ability to make the difference. He is a player we absolutely love.'
In addition to Tonali, Howe provided updates on other players who were on international duty. Bruno Guimaraes returned in good condition, while forward Callum Wilson, suffering from a back injury, has yet to return to training. Howe acknowledged that Newcastle, who recently defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1, are seeking to build momentum as they face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
