Fernando Alonso has described Aston Martin as Formula One's 'team of the future' after the team secured top designer Adrian Newey. Although Alonso's contract extends to 2026, he acknowledged that changes might not happen swiftly enough for him.
The double world champion from Spain, who will be 45 when his current contract ends, enthusiastically welcomed Newey, 65, who joins from Red Bull in March. Newey's primary focus will be on designing the car for the 2026 season, marking the start of a new engine era.
During the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Alonso highlighted the positive developments at Aston Martin. The team is expanding its facilities, with new buildings and a wind tunnel set for January, backed by significant partnerships. Alonso is optimistic about competing for future championships despite the time constraints.
