Bowling all-rounder Shams Mulani led India A's remarkable comeback as they posted 288 for eight on day one of their Duleep Trophy clash against India D on Thursday. Mulani finished the day unbeaten on 88 off 174 balls, eyeing his maiden first-class century.

Mulani forged a critical 91-run partnership with fellow Mumbai teammate Tanush Kotian, who contributed 53 off 80 balls. Kumar Kushagra also provided crucial support with his 28-run knock. Mulani, primarily known for his spin bowling, excelled against both slow and fast bowlers, gathering eight fours and three sixes.

In what was a challenging start, India A were at 93 for five in the first session. However, Mulani's resilience steadied the innings. Harshit Rana and Vidwath Kaverappa were the pick of the bowlers for India D, with figures of 2/49 and 2/30, respectively. As the second day dawns, all eyes will be on Mulani to see if he can achieve his first-class batting milestone.
