The eagerly anticipated Test match between Afghanistan and New Zealand at the Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground has yet to commence, as rain has delayed the start for the fourth consecutive day. The toss, originally scheduled for the first day, has yet to take place due to persistent wet outfield conditions.
ESPNcricinfo reported that covers remained over the majority of the ground early on the fourth day. Afghanistan's star all-rounder, Rashid Khan, will miss the one-off Test due to a back injury sustained in July during the Shpageeza Cricket League.
New Zealand's squad, which arrived in India on Thursday, includes five spin-bowling options: Mitchell Santner, Ajaz Patel, Rachin Ravindra, Michael Bracewell, and Glenn Phillips. Afghan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi emphasized the importance of securing a consistent home venue in India for future matches. Both teams have been preparing rigorously despite the setbacks caused by the rain.
