Travis Head delivered an astonishing performance by hitting a rapid 19-ball half-century as Australia triumphed over England by 28 runs in Southampton's first T20 series game on Wednesday. Head's aggressive innings, featuring four sixes and eight fours, propelled Australia to 86-0 within 5.5 overs.

Fellow opener Matthew Short also contributed significantly with a solid 41, but England's spinners managed to peg the visitors back to a total of 179 all out. Despite early promise, England's T20 debutants Jordan Cox, Jacob Bethell, and Jamie Overton fell short in the chase, succumbing to regular wicket losses.

Sean Abbott took three pivotal wickets, while Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa claimed two each, reducing England to 151 all out. The series continues with the second T20 match scheduled for Friday in Cardiff.
