As the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 draws near, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the availability of affordable match tickets, starting at just five dirhams. Additionally, entry will be free for individuals under the age of 18. This initiative, according to the ICC, seeks to cement a lasting legacy for the tournament, which will be hosted in the UAE.

In celebration of this announcement, the ICC released a video showcasing a spectacular laser show on the iconic Burj Khalifa. Speaking at a media conference, ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice highlighted the diversity in the UAE. "It is a place where the entire world is represented! This means that this is effectively a home World Cup for all 10 teams, and players can relish the support of passionate fans. With that in mind, I am delighted to announce today that tickets will be available for just five dirhams, and under-18s will go free," he stated.

The tournament will see ten teams, divided into two groups of five, compete over 23 matches in 18 days. Group A features teams like Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, while Group B includes Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the West Indies, and Scotland. Matches will be held across Dubai and Sharjah, kicking off with Bangladesh versus Scotland on October 3. The semi-finals are scheduled for October 17 and 18, with the final on October 20 in Dubai.

Before the commencement of the main event, teams will participate in warm-up matches from September 28 to October 1. Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) Board Member Zaid Abbas expressed enthusiasm over UAE hosting its first global women's tournament. "The Emirates Cricket Board is delighted to stage the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in the UAE. The ECB has rich experience and a proven pedigree of hosting top-class cricket, and we are ready to deliver another world-class event," he said. India, having announced their squad, will start their campaign against New Zealand on October 4.
