England head coach Brendon McCullum has praised Jos Buttler, labeling him as one of the greatest white-ball players England has ever had. Buttler is sidelined with a calf injury, prompting Phil Salt to take over the captaincy for the upcoming T20I series against Australia.

Buttler's injury also casts doubt over his participation in the following five-game ODI series. Speaking to Sky Sports, McCullum highlighted Buttler's extraordinary career, asserting that the 34-year-old has nothing left to prove.

'If Jos were to retire tomorrow, he would be remembered as arguably the greatest white-ball player England has ever had. He should focus on enjoying his game and leading the team effectively,' McCullum stated. He also added that it is his responsibility to help Buttler achieve this mindset and ensure he's ready for the Champions Trophy.

The T20I series kicks off in Southampton on September 11, followed by matches in Cardiff on September 13 and Manchester on September 15. The England T20I squad includes Phil Salt (C), Jofra Archer, Jacob Bethell, Brydon Carse, Jordan Cox, Sam Curran, Josh Hull, Will Jacks, Liam Livingstone, Saqib Mahmood, Dan Mousley, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid, Reece Topley, and John Turner.
