The 77th Senior National Aquatic Championships 2024 kicked off dramatically at the International Aquatic Complex in Mangaluru, featuring 10 events on its inaugural day. Highlighting the action, Hashika Ramachandra set a national record in the Women's 400m Freestyle.

Aneesh S Gowda from Karnataka ruled the Men's 400m, clocking in at 3:56.59. Teammate Dharshan S followed in second with a time of 4:01.39. Hashika Ramachandra shattered a 13-year-old record in the Women's 400m Freestyle set by Richa Mishra, timing 4:24.70.

The championships showcased top-notch competition, with notable victories including Dhanush Suresh in the Men's 200m Breaststroke, finishing at 2:18.85, and Thanya Shadakshari in the Women's 200m Breaststroke, leading the race at 2:40.54.

Strong performances were also witnessed in the Men's 100m Backstroke, won by Akash Mani (56.15), and the Women's 100m Backstroke, claimed by Soubrity Mondal (1:05.51). Teams from Karnataka also excelled in relay events, affirming their dominance on the first day.
